Niceness Does Not Cover Up Ugliness Where Racism Is Concerned

Published by truth2u at 7:58 pm under Life, Ramblings Edit This

Time and time again people try to cover up the ugliness that is in their soul with niceness, failing to realize that who they are consistently comes shinning through every time. It comes through in motivation, in intent, in insincerity. Your ugliness shines through in the words you choose to verbalize your experiences, the jokes you think are funny. Your inner thoughts and feelings are constantly on display by your very persona and you can not hide these characteristics by wrapping them up in niceness.

People are always amazed at my ability to see who they are. I had one friend tell me I must have been touched by an alien (rather than an angel) while others have told me I need to stop trying to analyze everything and learn how to live. Still others will confirm my take on any and everybody else but when my analysis of them comes to light they deny and sometimes get angry at what I have to say.

I am always amazed at an individual’s capacity to deceive and deny themselves; their half hearted attempts at hiding who they are while I recognize, even in this denial that deep within themselves they know who they are. The first step towards change is acknowledgement.

When you think there are elements of yourself that are not conducive to your positive concepts or self image, when you have to dress up what you say with insincere words in an attempt to hide what is real and you think change is needed, you first need to acknowledge through verbalization or inside meditation that change is needed. Point being that if you have to hide who you are behind insincere niceties then even you know, under the layers of denial, that something is not right.

I think it is pitiful that in the white world, when the going gets rough, the racism gets strong because in the racism is familiarity a good feeling of superiority, power and comfort found in the irrational belief that they are somehow better. Truth is your racist attitudes are more of a burden, a blemish on your soul and a scar upon your heart than an uplifting enhancement of your character and your racist attitudes shine brightly in the glow of the noon day sun eclipsing the brightness of the sun with the dark ugliness in your soul.

Even though I try not to let racism bother me, it always stabs at my heart and turns my stomach but I refuse to let it alter who I am. While I truly feel sorry for those who are motivated by hate and racism, I can not help the very real affect of it touching my very soul and I thank God that I do not carry with me the hate that rules the life of so many in the world.

And that’s the way I see it!!!

    Very good. I really enjoyed reading it. I too think to many people pretend that they are not racist. I for one thought at one time I had out grown the racist views that were part of my raising but the ugly truth is we all have been told about how bad “they” are. The they is in us all and it is only when we realize the oneness of all things will we be able to understand that what you do to your brother you do to yourself. We truly are One thing. I wrote a poem called the One thing if you, are any one would like to read it let me know.

    This is a great post and so timely after that story out of Philadelphia of the private swim club that turned away a camp group from the city in a questionable manner after their first visit. I was appalled and saddened by the comments on all the news stories I read. What is that saying “thou doest protest too much”….oh and how they did. In every word they wrote denying racism it became all too clear how racist many whites still are.

    @toolman
    I would love to read your poem - you can post it here at this site, here on this post or email it to me and thanks for the understanding. I too had relatives that told me how bad “they” were - all though the “they” was different, the hate was the same.

    @violetteb
    Thanks for visiting - that Philadelphia story had me shaking my head and trying to figure out the whys (these were just kids after all). I don’t know it kind of exhausts me to see things like that happen. But thanks for your words and visit me again - I will do the same and vist you.

    Something you might find interesting. Don’t know that I buy all that was said, but if you have an hour, you might watch it.

    @truth2u~Wow, only the white world is racist? Is that what you are saying? How about the racism from other groups or does that not apply? I’ve read several of your posts and comments you leave (including on my articles) and you have either injected race or religion in everything. Racism exists in every culture.

    In the past, the label of racist was reserved for anybody, black or white, who used superficial distinctions of race in relating to groups or individuals. That could describe you truth2u. I call you out for your very own racist comments.

    Not all of the “white world” is racist. Categorizing ALL of us into that group is a racist ideal in and of itself. Your “nice and thoughtful” words cover up your own racism.

    @scotty

    racism has touched my life - it is part of my experience - it is real for me on a daily basis - I did not use the word “all” I said in the white world if it affected you maybe you should check yourself!!

    I have also posted that I have met people in different races that were not inhibited by “racial attitudes” but were guided by religious beliefs, that I moved to where I am because of the diversity.

    You read into this whatever scotty - because you love to keep things going based solely on your concepts, judgments and divisions and your somewhat narrow view of the world.

    And if Freedom of Speech was absolute - Sotomayor would not have been asked to reflect on her choice of words nor would her words have made a difference - even though she ruled in one case for freedom of speech vs racial literature distributed by a police officer - how hypocritical of the system.

    Grow Up!!!

    Racism has hurt me a great deal in my lifetime even though I am white. As I mentioned to you before - because of my skin being somewhat of an olive tone, people where I live often choose to assume that I am Canadian Aboriginal descent (first nation they call that lineage here).

    I know that part of the reason this happened to me is so that I become wise enough to do whatever I can to make sure to eliminate racism as well as I can in this world. I agree with truth on a point, I wish to word it a little differently though… Those who are racist are of such a mindset - let’s face it, they have chosen to steal their power that way - they will never be changed. We can rest assured that they will get their just desserts.

    There may or may not be a judgement day for these people, yet there is one thing that in my lifetime I have seen in action many a time… This is karma, and that my friends is unavoidable.

    @truth2u..the only one who needs to grow up is you. You made the statement..stand by your own words. No wonder why you stand up for Sotomayor. You both use words then immediately sidestep them when called out on them.

    You wrote the article and the statement “I think it is pitiful that in the WHITE WORLD, when the going gets rough, the racism gets strong because in the racism is familiarity a good feeling of superiority, power and comfort found in the irrational belief that they are somehow better.

    You can’t hide it when you write it. I’ve checked myself sounds like you need to and in a deep way. I did, however find your generalization of the “white world” a racist statement and going by the definition above, you fit the bill!

    Now go and pray and maybe some light will shine upon your own words! Try not to sidestep the light :)

    @scotty
    I think you are pitiful. I will not be addressing you again because I know there is no reaching you - you have issues. You are in your own little world where you will remain unless something tramatic/dramatic happens to you.

    I think the only reason you took this so personally is because you are one of those racist whites I spoke about and what I said struck a nerve.

    I stood up for Sotomayor because of who she is, what she has accomplished and how she handles herself under pressure - something you would have no concept of because it is obvious that you have no class, understanding or knowledge of the way of the world.

    I know who I am and I do not need the likes of you, which you demonstrate every time you open your mouth, to tell me to check myself.

    My light is always shinning with the mission of lighting up the darkness from people like you. You are a waste of my energy, a waste of my words and a troll (trolling for confrontation).

    As of this day you are on the same level as vrajavala who posts irrational, insane, obsessed, hate Obama comments on my post and will be ignored like I ignore her.

    Like I told vrajavala - if you do not like what I say, have the sense not to read what I say because truth is I will continue to say what I feel and comment on what I see in the world - from my perspective and you (specifically you) will never be able to change my perspective because from this day forward, I do not even hear what you say.

    Again I say grow the hell up!!!

    CENSORSHIP IN ACTION

  11. judyplantzon 18 Jul 2009 at 2:21 pm edit this

    Group hug? Here is my thought - you both originally thought enough of each other to support each other’s blogs. Why not agree to disagree and make maximal value of the light shed from contrasting views. No matter how the words became misunderstood, you both seem like nice people. Now kiss and make up.

    :0)

  12. judyplantzon 18 Jul 2009 at 2:23 pm edit this

    Oh as for the thing that truth said about vrajavala, I appear to be dealing with that now too, it is in the beginning stages - but it is clear to see where we are going. My sensible comments she won’t even display on her blog.

  13. truth2uon 19 Jul 2009 at 12:37 pm edit this

    @judysayswhat
    You know you are right about vrajavala – she does not allow comments to stay on her blogs but she post whatever on other blogs so I am therefore leaving my comment regarding her post “The Obama Caliphate” here on this post only because she truly rubs me the wrong way with her irrational obsession.

    @vrajavala
    Sorry for the repost I wanted to see if my comment would go through and post if I was signed on or if you are just screening all of your comments.

    You are no better than the Islamic Terrorist you rant about. When you die, Satan and his followers will be rejoicing in Hell for the return of one of their own. You are so full of hate it shows in every post you make; hate, confusion and fear. I truly feel sorry for you but more than anything you straight disgust me.

    Interesting statement… Concise and straight to the point…

    The only racist is you…read what you write. You do not know anything about the world because you are trapped in that “Im a victim” box. Everyone can read your articles…it is you that injects race in every article. It is you, that seems to be an expert on the “white world.” Find anything in any of my articles that is racist. Just one. You can’t so you resort to labeling me one. Old trick doesn’t work on me because I do not have white guilt and I will keep calling you out on your own racist ideologies.

    Also “un”truth2u…i will put my life experiences up against yours anyday…trust me on that. I’m 34 and I bet you I’ve accomplished more that you ever will because I stand up for everyone…regardless of color…which you seem to be obsessed with.

    Your tactic of labeling people is well know. Your name calling doesn’t affect anyone. However, it does show people what you truly are on the inside.
