While Obama Condemns The Violence Against The People In Iran McCain Feels There Is Still More To Do
While some are viewing Obama’s words as “getting stronger” towards the incidents that are taking place in Iran, I say he is still walking the tightrope of diplomacy with caution and dignity, which is, as it should be. While one reporter attempted to imply that Obama’s stronger words my have been the result of McCain’s comments by asking Obama, straight out if this were the case, Obama gave that winning smile and calmly asked “what do you think” as the audience of reporters laughed. How ridiculous was this question?
With the choices he has made since being in office, President Obama has shown that he is not a follower. He has shown his strength of character in taking the stances he has taken regarding the economy, closing Guantanamo Bay prison, calling “enhanced interrogation” what it really is – torture, and putting a stop to it, among other controversial decisions he has made since being in office. With these things in mind, why would he let McCain’s comments influence him one way or the other? Obama shows daily that he is a thinker, not a follower – open up your eyes to see and your ears to hear!!!!
I have to ask the people who are pushing Obama to say or do whatever in defense of the people of Iran – what would you have him do concerning this yet, unresolved situation in Iran? Is it truly his place to interfere in the election process of another country? Besides the acknowledgement that the display of violence perpetrated against the peaceful protesters in Iran is deeply troubling, that the United States is appalled and outraged and that he personally condemns the unjust actions and along with the American people mourn each life lost – what else is there to do or say?
Whatever the outcome in Iran, the United States will have to figure out a way to diplomatically deal with its leaders; leaders that have already and unrealistically latched onto the idea that the United States is meddling in their affairs.
Aggression is not always the answer – it seems as though, we as Americans, would know that by now, definitively, as we are locked in combat in foreign countries and spending billions of dollars in our belief in force feeding the world our democratic ideology. I would like to believe the words Marvin Gaye sang about so very long ago regarding the Viet Nam war – “war is not the answer for only love can conquer hate”.
While on some levels this concept is a work in progress, Obama is putting his best foot forward to accomplish this very thing in the world through his words. However, is time running out as we have previously allowed the crazies of the world to develop and enhance their arsenal of nuclear armament? Could we have done more to stop the collection of nuclear weapons in the hands of people we knew had malicious intent with their development of these arsenals? Is it just a matter of time before the apocalypse?
The “end world”, according to the Mayan Indians, is just around the corner, in the year 2012, and from the attitudes of Iran and North Korea and their nuclear arsenal coupled with their intent to destroy the United States; it may be our apocalypse that is drawing near. Will the past evil deeds and meddling nature of our country that people like John McCain, are so proud of, be the final down fall of this nation, as the world sits back and laughs at our misfortune.
Truth be told the negativity takes my breathe away as I reflect back to the beginning of the formation of this country and how it was taken from the Indians and built on the backs of slaves through cruel and violent methods used to overthrow and control two races of people. I sometimes feel that we as Americans have a rude awakening due us and as I look around the world I see the danger growing and intensifying and wonder if, in our arrogance, we have minimized the danger.
And that’s the way I see it!!!

I must say I am likely to agree with you, there is actually so much going on that we are all unaware of the striking similarities found in the Omega code.
As you describe President Obama maintaining professionalism and dignity in this tough time; it is as if you took the thoughts from my head.
Nice article.
Torture is still going on, Gitmo is still open and Obama has not seen fit to prosecute any of those responsible for torture or war crimes. He has bailed out his old banker friends and insurance industry supporters. He is refusing to consider Single Payer though most Americans want it, he is doing business as usual. Escelating the war in Afghanistan and increasing military activity via drones in Pakistan. Im not sure why he is getting so much credit. Nor am I sure why those on the “Right” are so upset with him… It’s business as usual in Washington. Im about as far to the left as anyone I see post on this site and I would rather have Bush back. At least Bush was transparent, you knew where he stood and that lead more people to resist his efforts. Obama is a wolf in sheep clothes and the so called “left” has spent most of their time patting each other on the back and praising Obama rather than noticing that very little has changed.
Can you prove these claims because Bush started the bank bailouts Obama was just finishing what Bush started - Obama is making every effort to close Gitmo but is running into opposition (although even that is moving along with other countries offering to take a few prisoners here and there). In terms of single payer I’m not knowledgable about that but he is setting something in motion to help those who can not help themselves. Critics have constantly said Afghanistan should have been the war we were in rather than Iraq but Bush saw things differently. It may be business as usual in DC but only because old habits are hard to break and just because it’s like that in Washington does not mean Obama is not attempting to change things for the people - Bush was transparent and arrogant he did things his way regardless of how the people were affected - thus the crisis we are in today. I see things differently because I am not as busy as you are with drawing lines of division (liberals, conserverative, right, left, democratic, republican). While chopping America up in pieces you ignore the total picture.
OH! PLEASE! I am not drawing lines I mentioned the “right” and allueded to the so called “left”. I find such charictorizations silly why do you think I put right in “” marks and used the term “so called left” because I think such distinctions are of little use, but yet they exist. Ignore them if you like and pretend that Obama is different. He is a MASTER politician, but that is all, he is not about “helping people” he is a Democratic politician, not much different than a Republican politician they both take BIG money from the same people. I think you may be ignoring the “total picture”. “You will know them by their fruits” Obama is pandering to big insurance interests, pandering to the military industrial complex, and ignoring the will of the people in not even considering Single Payer.
Look I am not ignoring the total picture - regardless to how lightly you drew the lines, you acknowledged the lines in a way that keeps the division alive and well - Obama put the package out there knowing the possibility that before his signature is put on there it will probably be changed - According to news reports a new proposal costing $6.6 billion (or something around that figure) has already been submitted - the important part was that he started the ball rolling as far as I am concerned and he is insistent on getting something passed.
You are so hung up on your single payer that nothing else will work for you. Flexibilty goes a long way in getting things done as well as the ability to negoitiate but more importantly is the ability to see how things need to be changed and to step out there to get the ball rolling.
“Democrats” are known for “helping people” - “Republicans” are know for helping themselves and big business (look where that has taken we the people) please note here you again drew the lines so I am speaking in your language :o)
