Will Two Great Spirits Ignite The Spirit Of Obama
Barrack Obama leaves Philadelphia today on his journey to the White House. He is taking the same path traveled by Abraham Lincoln, another former Illinois senator who made the rise to presidency, symbolic of the affiliation he feels towards the 16th president. He is being sworn into office on the same bible President Lincoln used, which has not been used for this purpose since Lincoln had his hands upon it.
There will be a public ticketed event at the train station in Philadelphia. In Wilmington, Delaware, there will be a public event with Vice President Elect Biden and in Baltimore they will stop over at an event at War Memorial Plaza. However, at the end of the journey, there will be no fan fare. People hoping to greet the train at Union Station were disappointed when they realized Obama’s arrival, into D.C., is not public.
However, on Sunday, there are plans for a free concert of mega-stars such as Beyonce and Bruce Spingsteen at the Lincoln Memorial. This event is the official public welcome to Washington. On Monday, Obama will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., by focusing the national holiday for King, on its designation as a national day of service, by encouraging the public to participate in community service projects.
Being the father that he is, on Monday night he and his family will join the children of military families for a free concert featuring Miley Cyrus and others. The journey culminates on Tuesday, as he is sworn into office as the President of the United States of America.
Four final days of fun and appreciation before he settles in, to face the disastrous situations he will be confronted with as the official President, willingly taking over during one of the toughest economic times in decades. These are the direst of times, both in the United States and in the world, as well.
Hopefully this symbolic Lincoln trip followed so closely with Dr. King’s, legacy celebration, will cause a deep reflective time for Obama, a time that he draws spiritual strength and deep understanding, from the spirits of both Lincoln and King, strength that will guide and direct him in the ominous days ahead under the ever watchful eye public scrunity.
