Is A Ceasefire Close
![]()
It is unbelievable what Israel is being allowed to get away with in its quest to search out and eliminate Hamas. The most recent total disregard for human life came this morning with the strike on the headquarters for the U.N. refugee agency. It appears to have been hit by three white phosphorous shells. The nature of white phosphorous shells increases the probability of fire because the shells burn at high temperatures.
While the U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon expressed strong protest and outrage over the strike on the U.N. refugee agency, nothing is being done to actually stop Israel from this brutally, homicidal attack on Gaza. Reuters and several media organization have reported damages to their offices on Thursday as Israel moves forward with her massacre in the Gaza area.
What exactly was the goal of Israel in shelling this U.N. building which has been used as a shelter for hundreds of people fleeing Israel’s 20-day offensive in Gaza. Has this been one of the buildings used by these people when Israel drops those leaflets telling the people to find a safe place because the attack would be moving their way? Was it Israel’s hope that the building was full of people fleeing her vicious attack?
Is Israel’s real aim, not to cripple Hamas but, to destroying Gaza and the infrastructure of the people of Gaza creating a need for a level of dependency, for the Palestinian people, on neighboring states like Israel, thereby, after all the violence perpetrated by Israel on Gaza, the dependency will open up the door for Israel to continue to maintain a substantial amount of control on the people of Gaza.
It seems more rational to have opened up the entrances to even two of the borders prior to things getting to this level, where more than 1,000 Palestinian people have died. Instead Israel maintained control of the borders and controlled what went into Gaza on a basic need level.
Open up the borders and allow Gaza some level of independent. These are hard to forgive acts against a nation struggling for independence as well as struggling for the basic necessities in life which have been rationed out by Israel in an ineffective way.
Even now, Israel is refusing a ceasefire, being just as stubborn as Hamas who has been provoked beyond reason by the “bigger” of the two, which is suppose to be Israel. Israel repeatedly states that Hamas needs to stop firing missiles at them, but is Israel’s real reasoning that, if it stops firing on Hamas, they will have to discuss the possibility of opening up the borders and losing control over the Palestinian state.
If this keeps up, the border issue will be a mooted issue by the non-existence of the Palestinian people. If Israel has murdered 1,000, in twenty-eight days, how many more will die before Israel ceases the firing upon, technically, people who only have ineffectual weaponry.
Although peace talks are taking place in Egypt and a probability of a ten day cease fire is in the works, no resolution has been reach on a temporary cease fire to this date, let alone a “doable and sustainable”, peace agreement, with neither Gaza nor Hamas willing to give an inch on what they want.
This means that even if this ceasefire where to take place, the issue of the policing of Gaza’s borders, by Israel, is the thing that needs to be resolved in order for there to be a possibility of long-term peace.
Meanwhile, Guerrillas in Lebanon sent more rockets into Israel for the second time in a week. Will Israel be drawn into a second confrontation? Nine Israeli human rights groups accused the army of endangering Gaza civilians and called for a war crimes investigation citing the fact that the Gaza campaign has left civilians with nowhere to flee.
Is this a Gaza campaign or an Israel campaign that is ultimately killing people - just who should be brought up on war crimes. Whose weaponry destroyed more lives? Will Israel get away with murder while blaming the murders of innocent people on Hamas?
How twisted is that???
And that’s the way I see it!!!
