The Burris Appointment - Who Is Really Breaking The Law

Published by truth2u under News, politics Edit This

What kind of game is the Senate playing in regards to the allocation of former Senator, President Elect Obama’s senate seat.  This is nothing more than a blatant, illegal show, from someone who has serious control issues, no better than Israel’s disproportionate attack on Gaza.

Roland Burris, who was legally appointed, by Governor Blagojevich, to replace President Elect Obama in the senate, has been blocked from taking that seat, based on the irrational Secretary of State… who refuses to sign Burris’ paperwork, which would allow him to take the senate seat.

Burris was blocked from the senate, which convened today for the first time.  He was informed, by the senate, that his credentials were not in order.  Well I guess they weren’t in order, if the Secretary of State’s signature was not on the paperwork.

I can not believe how the American people, regardless of the law which says, innocent until proven guilty, latch, so comfortably, on the concept of guilt by association.  To witness, those that are responsible for forming law, act so willfully against the law; breaking the law and feeling totally justified in so doing.

Let’s look at truth.  Rod Blagojevich is the Governor of Illinois.  He may be a little shady and, maybe not.  Obama’s choice for his secretary of commerce, Governor Bill Richardson, withdrew as nominee based on a federal grand jury investigation into his actions regarding the fact that some of his political donors won $1.5 million in state contracts.  Richardson says that he and his administration, of course, acted properly in all matters regarding this incident.

This is basically the same kind of situation that Blagojevich is in - a “pay for play” situation.  Now maybe Blagojevich was a little raw in the way he went about getting his “pay for play”, but if “pay for play” is the norm, then all Blagojevich is guilty of, is being a little raw.  Richardson, after his withdrawal, will return to New Mexico and continue his term as Governor of New Mexico.

Blagojevich was arrested for a crime that, technically, he did not commit because no goods or services actually changed hands.  “The people of Illinois” meaning the people who are filing all of this paperwork with the courts of Illinois, in an attempt to begin the impeachment process, did not have enough evidence, obviously, to force Blagojevich out of office, nor did they have enough evidence to limit Blagojevich’s duties as the Governor of Illinois, beyond the point of excluding him from documentation regarding national security, which is understandable because if he would, so blatantly, offer to sell the senate seat, there is no telling what else he may want to sell.

At any rate, just because he is still, Governor of Illinois, and they could not block him, in any way, from performing his duties as the, Governor of Illinois, he appointed Burris to the senate, which is one of the roles of the Governor of Illinois.  Yet, because you do not like the attitude of Blagojevich, you can neither force him out of office, nor will he resign, you discount his appointment.  You discount the appointment not based on the qualifications of the appointee but because of the attitude of the appointer.

Not only that, but you go against a law to achieve your need to discount Blagojevich, in whatever way you deem appropriate, even though, in so doing, you are the obvious one breaking the law because, If Blagojevich had truly broken the law, he would not still be, Governor of Illinois, he would be sitting in jail.  Now, the madness in this demonstration of American politics is making my head spin.

Truth is, all this paperwork is being filed, for what, to intimidate Blagojevich because he was so raw.  The prediction was made that Blagojevich would be out of office by
Lincoln’s birthday, but now it has been pushed forward to April because of all the tapes and paperwork which, supposedly, needs to be reviewed.  It sounds to me more like a way to possibly, catch Blagojevich doing something wrong – after the fact.

It would seem as though, you need this time to manufacture some evidence because you had already listened to the majority of the tapes prior to arresting him and based on what you heard, you moved in to arrest him.  It seems to me if you went through the process of bugging his phone, you would have had someone there monitoring the phone conversations.  It feels like, you have got nothing concrete, at this time, on Blagojevich other than his attitude and a threat.  It sounds to me like Burris should have been seated in the senate this morning.

And that’s the way I see it!!!

Tit For Tat - Middle East Madness

Published by truth2u under News Edit This

While the death toll in Gaza has reached the 500 mark, with more civilians dying in Gaza, neither Israel nor Gaza, through Hamas, are relenting or agreeing to the appeals from the UN and the world, to a ceasefire and renewed negotiation talks that will bring this violence to a final halt.  What will the end be and what does Israel really expect to accomplish?

Israel’s attack on
Gaza is only increasing the negative feelings of militants in the world.  By the violent and ruthless attacks on the innocent people of Gaza, while the world watches, it is possible that Israel will incite more people to combine forces with insurgents that are recruiting throughout the world on a daily basis.

While President Bush supports Israel, shinning the spotlight of hate on the U.S., I would have to say, this was a foreseeable expectation coming from a man who jumped into a war with Iraq, with no forethought as to how to pull out effectively, motivated just by the rage that was building inside of him, based on the 9/11 incident and the things that had gone on in the past with Suddam Hussein and the Bush family.  Bush’s verbalized support of Israel is adding to Israel’s motivation to continue the violence being perpetrated on the civilian population of Gaza.  January 20, 2009, feels like it is years away instead of weeks away and even then, how effective will Obama be in solving this crisis between to groups of people determined to completely destroy each other.

Is Bush’s vehement support of Israel an effort to justify his attack on Iraq?  To lighten the perception of people regarding his attack on Iraq, as a means to justify that action, based on the shared belief of both Bush and Israel that the only way to stop insurgents is through war.  Did Israel plan this attack to happen weeks before the changing of the guard in the United States and if so, why are they insistently saying that they were ready for peace with Gaza?  How can you plan a military attack on a people with the goal in mind of peace?

Meanwhile in India, with Pakistan refusing to accept the accusation that the Mumbai attacks were indeed inspired by the “element” located within the Pakistani borders, India has changed the wording of the accusations by saying that Pakistani authorities “must have had” a hand in the Mumbai siege.  Prime Minister Singh, of India,  attributes this deduction to the fact that “based on the sophistication and military precision of the attack, the attackers must have had the support of some official agencies in Pakistan.”

Pakistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Malik Hamad Khan, is saying “the state of Pakistan is not to blame if any non-state actors are involved in the Mumbai attacks,” adding that “the actions of individuals should not be blamed on Pakistan.”  Kahan also states that Islamabad was “committed to take action against non-state actors if they were involved in the attacks.”   I say, what about the state actors, the citizens of Pakistan, that may be involved?

Singh, Prime Minister of India, on the other hand is saying, “Some countries like Pakistan have in the past encouraged and given sanctuary to terrorists and other forces that are antagonistic towards India.  The rhetoric goes on and on between these to nuclear armed nations who have fought three wars against each other since they gained independence in 1947.

Does it matter if the people involved are non-state or state actors?  Shouldn’t the mission be simply to locate and eradicate this “element” in a show of sincerity?  While Pakistan lines the borders of India with military troops, does this indicate the desire to work with India, in solving the cause and locating the perpetrators of this violent deed that was perpetuated on them in November 2008?  Will this be yet another situation the United States will have to babysit in an effort to prevent another Middle East war?

How long will this unrest last.  Can’t these people figure out a way to get along?
United States has its own problems to deal with.  There are other people in the world that are suffering aggressions, hunger, poverty and distress, yet we continue to babysit and get involved with Middle East politics when, from where I sit, they do not want to get along with each other in the first place.  All they know is corruption, lies and war.

So it is written, so shall it be.

And that’s the way I see it!!!
